Among Us has been one of the top played games of 2020. Innersloth's little video game that might have blown up throughout the world, two years after it made its way onto mobile devices, thanks to its simple approach to gameplay and exciting multiplayer. Among Us is a 2018 online multiplayer social deduction game developed and released by American game studio Innersloth. The game is cross-platform compatible. While the game gained little widespread notice when it was first introduced in 2018, it gained in popularity in 2020 as a result of several well-known Twitch streams and YouTubers playing it. Among Us is a multiplayer game for four to fifteen players, with at least five being suggested. Each round, up to three players are picked at random and in secrecy to be the Impostor(s). The Impostor(s) can win in one of two ways: by murdering the majority of the crew until they're even in numbers, or by destroying a crucial system on the map. Similarly, the Crewmates can win in one of two ways: by completing all tasks or by finding and expelling all Impostors. Crewmates are given "tasks" to do throughout the map at the beginning of the game, which generally consists of maintenance work on essential systems like repairing wires and downloading data. To fit in with Crewmates, impostors are provided with a fake list of assigned tasks. They cannot, however, legitimately do tasks and may only appear to conduct any of the ship's functions. Impostors, on the other hand, may destroy vital systems, lock doors to rooms, move via the ventilation system rapidly and quietly, and murder Crewmates while standing near them. On each map, there are numerous surveillance devices and a vitals indicator to aid the Crewmates in identifying Impostors. Crewmates can also verify their identification through visual tasks that Impostors cannot imitate. When a Crewmate is murdered or voted out and ejected, they become a ghost. Ghosts have the ability to see and communicate with other ghosts, as well as travel through walls. Ghosts have no cone of vision, but living players have. Furthermore, ghosts cannot converse with or be observed by living players. As a Crewmate, ghosts assist their living teammates by accomplishing duties or conducting different acts of sabotage as an Impostor. A group meeting can be called at any moment by reporting a dead body or tapping the Emergency Meeting button on the map. Players debate who they feel is an Impostor based on the evidence given during a meeting. If impostors are spotted venting or murdering, they can be recognized beyond a reasonable doubt. However, a player might be suspicious for a variety of reasons. During the meeting, however, all of the players act as a jury, evaluating the authenticity and worth of each other's statements and questions. A plurality vote is held, and if a majority is achieved, the player with the most votes is ejected from the map and becomes a ghost, unless a majority of the crewmates choose to skip voting or a tie vote occurs. Players can speak via an inbuilt text chat just during meetings and unless they are alive. Various variables may be altered in each game's lobby to customize features of the gameplay, such as movement speed, the number of emergency meetings authorized, the amount of tasks, and whether or not an Impostor is disclosed after being voted off. Spacesuit colors, skins, caps, and pets are all available as cosmetic choices.
